Bing's Search Engine

"...Bing is ready for how user preferences change, and so that the service evolves along with our expectations.

It is within this evolution that the Bing team is trying to help push Bing forward but without appearing intrusive, in the way that some feel Google is the 'Big Brother' of the Internet.

The Bing team tries to predict what your next action will be after you enter your query and then give you that information so that your search experience requires less clicking and eye panning...."

How can you benefit from Geographic targeting in South Africa?

Geo Targeting with Bing Webmaster tools
Geo-targeting

In Google's webmaster tools, there under site settings, you are able to target a specific country or leave it open for a global market. This is referred to as Geographically Targeting your website. Your Domain extension may be specific to your country, for example South Africa is usually .co.za, in this case Google's Webmaster tools does not offer geo-targeting.

In Yahoo and Bing's webmaster tools you are incredibly able to use Geo-targeting on even individual pages of your website or subdomains. What does this mean? This means that you can say that one page or subdomain of your website is more relevant to American citizens while a another to citizens of Afghanistan. This may not seem like much use to you right now, but if you make use of this information for all your websites that you are trying to maximise traffic through, you can get quite a lot extra.

What are some of the benefits Geo targeting your website?

  • Quicker ranking. Obviously there is usually less competition to get ranking on a search engine on just about any subject, if you target just one country. Usually the smaller the country, the less competition you will have.
  • New Markets to target. Many third world countries are becoming more technologically advanced as online technologies become more and more affordable. This means new hunting grounds are open to SEO professionals as they expand on their niches.
  • Running tests to see where your niche has the most success. The geo-targeting of your website can be changed at any time, you just need to wait for your site to be re-indexed for the new country. Then you can focus more of your efforts on the needs and trends of that specific community.
One simple example of how a South Africa can increase his revenue from adsense is by targeting his website on South Africa through Google, getting an easy and good ranking, while using Bing and Yahoo webmaster tools to target the same website on America. Why? With a little bit of research you will find that very few South Africans use Bing or Yahoo search engines, while a much larger percentage of an even larger audience in America still use Bing and Yahoo.

With a little thought and effort you can increase your website's traffic immediately!
